Photo Trips

I usually take 4 or 5 photo trips each year -- these are to places like Tanzania in Africa for big cats, elephants, giraffes, etc., Botswana in Africa for crocs, hippos and big cats, Churchill in Manitoba, Canada for Polar Bears, Guadalupe Island in Mexico for White Sharks, or other exciting locales.

Always, on my trips, I have the very best guide for the area and animal species I am looking for. And always, I stay away from locations with lots of tourists and other vehicles. This means that sometimes -- most times, actually -- I end up roughing it to get to location and get the shot. And often I end up waiting -- and that is truly the secret to good wildlife photography -- waiting with an animal or with a group of animals for many hours or even days to get the behavior that I am looking for.

Often on my trips there is room for one or even two photographers to come with me -- this helps defray the costs for me and helps to get these other photographers access that they would not get using more conventional tour resources. So, if you are a skilled photographer with suitable equipment, and if you are willing to rough it from time to time, and if you see on my calendar a trip that interests you -- then please contact me and we'll see if we can work something out.
